With the application of Augmented Reality (AR) technology, Sand Play merges the real and the virtual world. A video is projected on the real sand, representing the terrain with images of mountains, volcanos, forests, seas, rivers, fishes, flowers and so forth. By playing with the sand, children and adults can construct imaginary landscapes and interact with the virtual characters with their hands. Using Sand Play, therapists and teachers can facilitate verbal communication and develop storytelling skills.
