NAO, an autonomous, programmable humanoid robot invented by a French robotics company, is designed to be an interactive and personalized companion robot which has been programmed with different capabilities that it can develop its own personality and learn new skills. NAO has been introduced at the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council’s aged care facilities. With technical support and system upgrades by the Welfare Council’s I.T. Department, NAO can respond to command, do simple exercises and read Chinese poems, to name a few.
